Darlene Lee worked at Lincoln Square Recreation Center in Oakland's Chinatown and was a graduate of Lincoln Elementary School. As a result, we are proud to offer scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are associated with either organization.

Requirements

Candidate must be a graduating high school senior who will attend college this Fall. Candidate must be of Asian descent associated with EITHER Lincoln Square Recreation Center, or Lincoln Elementary School. Award recipients or a representative MUST attend the online Zoom or in-person presentation at Chinese Presbyterian Church of Oakland's sister church, located at 890 Fargo Avenue in San Leandro, during the worship service on June 16, 2024 starting at 10:30 am. One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a student who serves the community and set goals to benefit the Asian American community.

Selection Criteria

  • Community volunteer service
  • Participation in school, extracurricular activities, and/or employment experience
  • Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
  • Demonstrated leadership in school and/or community related activities
  • Unusual circumstances, if any (i.e. health or financial need, etc.)
